Potential of Castor Oil
Castor oil has numerous application in transportation, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. Castor oil is used in numerous applications, such as adhesives, break fluids, caulks, dyes, electorical liquid dielectrics, humectants, Nylon 11plastics, hydraulic fluids, inks, lacquers, leather treatments, lubricating greases, machining oils, paints, pigments, polyurethane adhesives, refrigeration lubricants, rubbers, sealants, textiles, washing powders, and waxes.

Castor oil is also the raw material for the production of numerous chemical compounds, notably sebacic acid, undecylenic acid and nylon-11. A listing of the complete list of chemicals derived from castor oil is available upon request. The production of lithium grease consumes a significant amount of castor oil. Hydrogeneration and saponification of castor oil yields 12-hydroxystearic acid which is then combined with lithium carbonate to produce high perfomance lubricant grease.
